NUML Hosts High-Level Bangladeshi academic delegation; Signs LoI with Rajshahi University

ISLAMABAD, 22 MAY (DNA) — A 12-member high-level academic delegation from Bangladesh, headed by Professor Dr. Mamum Ahmed, Chairman University Grants Commission (UGC) Bangladesh and comprising vice-chancellors of leading Bangladeshi universities, visited the National University of Modern Languages. The delegation was also accompanied by representatives of the Higher Education Commission Pakistan.

The distinguished delegation was warmly received by the Rector NUML, Major General (R) Shahid Mahmood Kayani HI(M), along with senior university officials. During the visit, the guests were given a comprehensive tour of the university campus and various academic and cultural facilities.

The delegation visited the ongoing Job Fair and later toured the NUML TV Studio. At the Faculty of Computing and Engineering, the visiting dignitaries interacted with students and faculty members and took keen interest in innovative projects and technological demonstrations displayed at various stalls.

The delegation also visited the NUML Library and the Bangla Corner, where the Chairman UGC Bangladesh recorded his remarks in the visitors’ book and appreciated NUML’s efforts in promoting linguistic and cultural harmony.

The guests later visited the Bangla Department at Ghalib Block and highly appreciated the vibrant cultural stalls organized by Department of Pakistan Studies, representing the rich traditions and heritage of Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir.

A key highlight of the visit was the signing of a Letter of Interest (LoI) between NUML and Rajshahi University, Bangladesh, aimed at academic and student exchange, faculty, research and administrative exchange, Joint educational and research activities, Language and cultural cooperation, postgraduate and postdoctoral collaboration, and institutional linkages between the two universities.

The document was signed by Rector NUML and the Vice Chancellor of Rajshahi University, Professor Dr. Faridul Islam. At the conclusion of the visit, shields, gifts, and souvenirs were presented to the members of the delegation as a gesture of goodwill and friendship.

The delegation expressed heartfelt gratitude to NUML for the warm hospitality and appreciated the university’s significant role in promoting languages, cultural understanding, and regional academic cooperation. — DNA
