NUST launches China-Pakistan BRI Joint Laboratory

ISLAMABAD, 10 OCT (DNA) —  The National University of Sciences & Technology (NUST) on Wednesday announced the establishment of the China-Pakistan Belt and Road Joint Laboratory on Smart Disaster Prevention of Major Infrastructures, marking a significant milestone in scientific cooperation between the two countries.

The joint laboratory has been launched with NUST as the Executive Body for Pakistan and Southeast University (SEU) in Nanjing, China, under the supervision of Pakistan’s Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST), according to a Gwadar Pro’s report.

Speaking at the unveiling ceremony held at NUST’s NICE Structures Lab, Additional Secretary MoST Rizwan Sheikh said the initiative “demonstrates the power of research-driven development and the potential of international collaboration to address pressing global challenges.”

Dr. Osman Hasan, Pro-Rector (Academics), NUST, said the laboratory “will play a pivotal role in promoting knowledge sharing, fostering scientific excellence, and driving innovation in disaster risk reduction and resilient infrastructure systems.”

According to NUST, the Joint Laboratory will serve as “a hub for joint research, academic exchange and innovation,” furthering the university’s mission to strengthen global partnerships and contribute to a safer, more resilient future. — DNA
