ISLAMABAD, Dec 16 (APP/DNA): The Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (OIC-COMSTECH) on Tuesday announced the recipients of the prestigious COMSTECH Awards 2025, recognizing outstanding achievements in science and technology across OIC member states.
The awards, which honor exceptional contributions to scientific research, innovation, and technological advancement, were determined through a rigorous triple-blind review process conducted by internationally renowned scientists.
This stringent evaluation process ensures the highest standards of transparency, merit, and academic excellence.
The awards are formally approved and signed by the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in his capacity as Chairman of COMSTECH and will be presented during the General Assembly of COMSTECH.
The COMSTECH Life-Time Contributions Award in Chemistry has been awarded to Dr. Abdolreza (Arash) Simchi from Iran, while Prof. Mehboob-ur-Rahman from Pakistan has been honored with the COMSTECH Life-Time Contributions Award in Biology.
These lifetime achievement awards recognize decades of dedicated service and groundbreaking contributions to their respective fields.
In the Young Researcher category, two exceptional scientists have been recognized for their promising contributions: Dr. Abdur Rauf from Pakistan and Dr. Zafar Said from the United Arab Emirates.
Their early-career achievements demonstrate the growing pool of scientific talent across the OIC member states.
The COMSTECH Best Patent Award has been conferred upon Prof. Lim Hong Ngee from Malaysia and Prof. Ishak Afsin Kariper from Turkiye, acknowledging their innovative work in translating scientific research into practical applications with potential for commercialization and societal impact.
The COMSTECH Best Research Paper Awards span multiple scientific disciplines. In Biology, Dr. Lobat Taghavi from Iran has been recognized for her outstanding research.
The Chemistry award has been jointly awarded to Prof. Dr. Zia ur Rehman from Pakistan and Dr. Adel Ali Ismail from Egypt for their exceptional contributions. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sharif from Pakistan has received the award in Mathematics, while Dr. Bobomurat Ahmedov from Uzbekistan has been honored in Physics.
Each recipient will receive a certificate signed by the President of Pakistan (Chairman, COMSTECH), a shield of honor, and a cash prize ranging from US$2,500 to US$8,000, depending on their award category.
