OIC-COMSTECH, University of Wah ink MoU to strengthen academic collaboration

ISLAMABAD, Mar 31: The OIC Ministerial Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH) and the University of Wah (UW) Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote academic collaboration and research cooperation.

The MoU was signed by Coordinator General OIC- COMSTECH, Prof Dr M. Iqbal Choudhary, and Vice Chancellor University of Wah, Prof Dr Jameel-Ur-Nabi.
The agreement aimed at enhancing cooperation in higher education, scientific research, and capacity-building initiatives.


Both sides agreed to collaborate on joint academic and research programmes, facilitate exchange of scholars and students, and promote knowledge-sharing in areas of mutual interest.


Under the agreement, students from OIC member states will also be provided opportunities to pursue graduate studies at the University of Wah under a fellowship programme supported by COMSTECH, aimed at strengthening research capacity and academic linkages.
On the occasion, Prof Dr M. Iqbal Choudhary, Coordinator General OIC-COMSTECH said the collaboration reflects COMSTECH’s commitment to promoting scientific cooperation and expanding access to quality higher education across OIC member states.


He emphasised the importance of building strong academic partnerships to address shared challenges through science and innovation.
Vice Chancellor University of Wah, Prof Dr. Jameel-Ur-Nabi welcomed the initiative and said the University of Wah looks forward to working closely with COMSTECH in advancing research, academic excellence, and international collaboration. He added that the partnership would open new avenues for students and faculty to engage in meaningful academic and research activities.


The two institutions will further collaborate in organizing conferences, seminars, workshops, and training programmes, while encouraging mobility of researchers and faculty.


The officials expressed confidence that the partnership would contribute to strengthening scientific cooperation among OIC member states and support the development of human resources in science and technology.
