Omani Ambassador Calls on Education Minister Dr. Siddiqui

ISLAMABAD: OCT 2 (DNA): Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman, Fahad Khalaf Al-Kharusi, called on the Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training, Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, in Islamabad today.

During the meeting, both sides expressed their commitment to further enhancing cooperation in the education sector.

Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui highlighted that relations between Pakistan and Oman are rooted in history and are based on mutual friendship, which contributes to regional stability. He added that new avenues of cooperation in the field of education will be opened with Oman.

The Omani Ambassador observed that Oman has successfully embraced modernity while preserving its cultural heritage.

Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui emphasized that cooperation with Oman can be expanded in the teaching of the Arabic language and in the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector. He stressed that learning the Arabic language is essential for a deeper understanding of the Holy Quran, and therefore, Arabic language courses will be introduced in schools and colleges.

The Minister also expressed his intent to promote translation of Arabic literature into Urdu and Pakistani literature into Arabic to foster knowledge-sharing and cultural exchange.

The Omani Ambassador reaffirmed that collaboration will be strengthened between the Ministries of Education of both countries and extended an invitation to the Federal Minister to visit his office.

It was also noted that, the progress has been achieved on the MoUs signed between Pakistan and Oman in the field of education, since 2019.
