RIYADH, FEB 18: The relocation of terminals at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, managed and operated by Riyadh Airports Company (RAC), constitutes the largest operational transformation since the airport’s establishment.
The move aims to facilitate passenger movement on domestic and international connecting (transit) flights, enhance the travel experience, and improve operational efficiency.
The first phase of the terminal relocation commenced on February 16, with operational stability achieved following the transfer.
Terminals 1 and 2 were designated to serve international flights operated by the national carriers – Saudia, Riyadh Air, flynas, and flyadeal – ensuring smooth passenger flow and an organized travel environment through optimal use of the terminals. The reallocation reduces transfer times, increases capacity, and keeps pace with rapid growth in passenger numbers.
The relocation process will continue in the coming period with the second phase, in accordance with the operational plan. As of February 24, Terminal 4 will be designated for domestic flights of the national carriers – Saudia, flynas, and flyadeal. From February 25 onward, Terminal 5 will be allocated exclusively to international flights operated by foreign carriers.
At the same time, the national carriers’ domestic flights will be distributed between Terminals 3 and 4, thereby reducing waiting times for passengers connecting to international or domestic flights through the corridor linking the terminals.
