Pak, Türkiye pledge to further solidify ties

JEDDAH, AUG 26 (DNA) —  Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, met with the Foreign Minister of Türkiye, H.E. Hakan Fidan, on the sidelines of the 21st Extraordinary Session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM), held to discuss the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Palestine.

During the meeting, Senator Dar conveyed Pakistan’s deep appreciation for Türkiye’s active and principled leadership as the Chair of the 51st session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers. He acknowledged Türkiye’s pivotal role in mobilizing the Islamic world in response to pressing global and regional issues, particularly the deteriorating situation in Gaza.

The two foreign ministers expressed grave concern over the worsening humanitarian conditions in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, including famine and acute shortages of basic necessities. They emphasized the urgent need for coordinated humanitarian assistance and renewed their countries’ unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people in their just struggle for self-determination and statehood.

Senator Dar and FM Fidan also reaffirmed the deep-rooted, brotherly relations between Pakistan and Türkiye, which are anchored in shared faith, history, and values. Both sides expressed satisfaction over the existing level of bilateral cooperation in political, economic, defence, and cultural spheres and committed to exploring new avenues for expanding multifaceted collaboration.

They also agreed to maintain close coordination on regional and international forums, especially within the OIC framework, to ensure that the voices of the Muslim Ummah are heard and collective action is taken on critical issues.

The meeting concluded with both leaders reiterating their resolve to further strengthen Pakistan-Türkiye ties and continue working together for peace, development, and justice in the Islamic world.— DNA
