RAWALPINDI, JAN 9 (DNA):Federal Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control Mohsin Naqvi visited the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) headquarters. Director General ANF Major General Abdul Mueed welcomed the Interior Minister on his arrival. Interior Minister said that a conference will be organized soon to enhance cooperation with Gulf countries regarding anti-narcotics efforts.
He added that Heads of anti-narcotics forces from Gulf countries ‘ll be invited to the conference. He stated that this conference holds key importance in preparing a joint strategy to combat drug trafficking.
The Interior Minister said that he recently visited the Saudi Arabian Anti-Narcotics Headquarters and had a detailed discussions on increasing cooperation. He praised the ANF’s performance, saying that the seizure of narcotics worth approximately $10 billion in 2,150 operations last year is commendable.
Mohsin Naqvi appreciated the ANF’s effective operations against the drug mafia across Pakistan, despite limited resources and manpower. He directed the ANF to continue their crackdown against illicit drugs with full force to protect the new generation from the menace of narcotics.
Interior Minister instructed the ANF to continue their awareness campaign in educational institutions against narcotics use. He emphasized that those who are involved in narcotics trafficking will not be spared in any case. He directed that immediate, multi-faceted measures must be ensured to control the growing trend of narcotics. Mohsin Naqvi was also briefed on the ANF’s performance and operations. Federal Secretary Interior Muhammad Khurram Agha and senior ANF officials were also present on the occasion.
