ISLAMABAD, MAY 12: The scheduled communication between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of Pakistan and India has been postponed, a news agency reported on Monday.
According to the report, DGMO-level contact, initially expected earlier today, is now likely to take place later this evening.
No official reason was provided for the delay.
India Prime Minister Modi chaired high-level meeting before Pakistan and India DGMOs sit for truce talks.
Pakistan Army DGMO was scheduled to talk to Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai, DGMO of the Indian Army, as per the ceasefire understanding between the two countries, after US President Donald Trump announced the end of border tension.
The development comes days after Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Ahmed Sharif in a press conference reaffirmed that Pakistan remains open to military-to-military channels of communication with India — including DGMO-level talks — was a routine practice to maintain stability along the Line of Control (LoC) and avoid escalation.
A fragile ceasefire between India and Pakistan, brokered after a series of high-level military exchanges, was holding as of Monday noon, with communication between the two nations’ Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) expected later in the day, officials confirmed.
Military hotlines between the two nations have since been reactivated to manage any future incidents.
In a recent press briefing, DG ISPR Major General Ahmed Sharif stated that Pakistan was committed to using military-to-military communication channels, such as DGMO talks and emphasized the need for restraint and dialogue amid high tensions.
The international community continues to monitor the situation closely, fearing the potential for renewed conflict in the absence of a sustained diplomatic breakthrough.
