ISLAMABAD, APR 8: Pakistan Minerals Investment Forum 2025 (PMIF25) has commenced at the Jinnah Convention Centre in Islamabad, aiming to showcase the country’s vast mineral resources and attract international investment.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif delivered the opening address, emphasizing the government’s commitment to fostering responsible and sustainable mining practices. Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir is also scheduled to speak, highlighting the strategic importance of the mineral sector.

The two-day forum has attracted approximately 300 foreign delegates from countries including the United States, China, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Denmark, Finland, Kenya, and the United Kingdom. Notably, a high-level U.S. delegation led by Eric Meyer, Senior Bureau Official for the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs at the U.S. State Department, is participating to advance U.S. interests in the critical minerals sector and explore avenues for American companies to invest in Pakistan’s mineral landscape.

A significant highlight of PMIF25 is the official launch of the National Minerals Harmonisation Framework 2025, designed to attract investment by standardizing policies and ensuring regulatory clarity in the mining sector. The forum also features sessions on major mineral projects, including Reko Diq, focusing on investment opportunities, security measures, and governmental policies.

Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik noted that several agreements with global companies are expected to be signed during the forum, reflecting the international interest in Pakistan’s mineral sector. The event serves as a premier platform for global stakeholders to explore investment opportunities and unlock Pakistan’s mineral potential.

The PMIF25 underscores Pakistan’s efforts to position itself as a key player in the global mining industry by leveraging its substantial mineral wealth to drive sustainable development and economic transformation.
