First-of-its-kind operation in Pakistan Navy’s history

KARACHI: The Pakistan Navy has successfully located the black box of the K2 Airways cargo aircraft that met with an accident in July this year, following an extensive and continuous operation spanning over two months to search for the submerged wreckage of the plane.
Despite extremely difficult and complex conditions, the Pakistan Navy managed to pinpoint the location of the aircraft’s black box at a depth of 3,200 meters in the sea.
Pakistan Navy vessels identified the location of the wreckage with the help of equipment developed by the National Engineering and Scientific Commission (NESCOM).
The Pakistan Navy has provided information regarding the successful detection of the aircraft’s black box to the Bureau of Air Safety Investigation.
The identification of the black box at such a depth in the sea marks the first operation of its kind in the history of the Pakistan Navy.
