ISLAMABAD, JULY 17 (DNA):The Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) has officially established the National Youth Games Council to ensure the successful organization of the upcoming National Youth Games. The council will be responsible for policymaking, strategic decisions, and overall supervision of the event.
Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, Rana Mashhood Ahmad, has been appointed as the Chairman of the Council, while President of the POA, Arif Saeed, will serve as Co-Chairman. POA’s Secretary General, Khalid Mehmood, has been named the Secretary of the Council.
The Council includes the Federal Secretary for Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC), the Director General of the Pakistan Sports Board, and representatives from the Pakistan Army, the Higher Education Commission (HEC), provincial and regional sports boards. This wide representation aims to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated national strategy for youth sports.
Special attention has been given to ensure representation from all provinces, and three women members have also been included to promote gender balance and female participation in sports activities.
According to the POA, the Council will work in close coordination with all relevant institutions to ensure a smooth, transparent, and impactful event. The National Youth Games are expected to play a crucial role in identifying young athletic talent and fostering a stronger sports culture across Pakistan.
In a statement issued by the POA, it was highlighted that the National Youth Games would not only provide a platform for young athletes to showcase their skills but also serve as a catalyst for promoting sports at the grassroots level nationwide.
This initiative reflects the growing collaboration between the government and the Pakistan Olympic Association in their shared mission to empower the youth and advance sports development in the country.
