DHAKA, Nov 13 (DNA) – Pakistan made a flying start to their three-match hockey series against Bangladesh, part of the World Cup qualifying round being held in Dhaka, by outclassing the hosts 8–2 in the opening encounter.
Pakistan displayed dominant form throughout the match, with Ahmed Nadeem and Afraz scoring two goals each. Captain Imad Butt, Ghazanfar Ali, Rana Waheed Ashraf, and Hannan Shahid contributed one goal apiece to seal the emphatic victory.
For Bangladesh, Huzayfa and Amirul Islam managed to score one goal each. Despite their efforts, the home side struggled to match Pakistan’s pace and coordination.
President of the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) Mir Tariq Hussain Bugti and Secretary General Olympian Rana Mujahid Ali Khan congratulated the national team on their impressive win, expressing confidence that the players would continue their winning momentum in the upcoming matches.
The second match of the Pakistan–Bangladesh series will be played on November 14, while the final encounter is scheduled for November 16 in Dhaka.
