The statement stressed that thousands of Pakistani civilians have lost their lives in terrorist attacks that were allegedly planned, funded, supported, and executed from Afghan soil . ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has strongly rejected what it described as “baseless and unsubstantiated allegations” by the Afghan Taliban regime regarding civilian casualties linked to its counter-terrorism operations, reaffirming its commitment to defending its citizens against terrorist threats emanating from across the border.
In a strongly worded statement, Pakistan said that disinformation and misleading narratives cannot conceal the threat posed by terrorist networks operating from Afghan territory. The statement emphasized that such allegations do not absolve the Afghan Taliban authorities of their responsibility to prevent Afghan soil from being used for planning, financing, and launching attacks against Pakistan.
Islamabad highlighted the growing security challenges posed by militant groups based in Afghanistan, stating that terrorist attacks originating from across the border have resulted in more than 3,500 casualties in Pakistan during 2026 alone. The government reiterated that protecting the lives and security of its citizens remains its foremost priority.
Pakistan further pointed to repeated reports by United Nations monitoring mechanisms, which have expressed concern over the presence of numerous terrorist organizations in Afghanistan. According to the statement, groups including Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), also known as Fitna al Khawarij, the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), referred to as Fitna al Hindustan, and their affiliated networks continue to operate from Afghan territory, posing a serious threat to regional and international peace and stability.
The statement stressed that thousands of Pakistani civilians have lost their lives in terrorist attacks that were allegedly planned, funded, supported, and executed from Afghan soil. Islamabad accused the Afghan Taliban regime of failing to take effective action against these groups and allowing them to operate with impunity.
Pakistan underscored that no responsible state can remain passive while its civilians and security personnel are repeatedly targeted by terrorists. The government maintained that it reserves the right to take all necessary measures, consistent with international law and the principles of self-defence, to eliminate threats to its national security.
Calling on the Afghan Taliban authorities to fulfill their international obligations, Pakistan urged Kabul to take immediate and verifiable action against terrorist organizations operating within its territory. Islamabad emphasized that lasting peace and stability in the region can only be achieved through collective efforts to combat terrorism and prevent extremist groups from exploiting Afghan soil for cross-border violence.
The statement concluded by reaffirming Pakistan’s determination to continue its counter-terrorism efforts and defend its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the safety of its people against all forms of terrorism.
