Pakistan seeks to learn from china's expertise in coal and petrochemicals

Minister of Petroleum, Musadik Malik held meeting with Shaanxi Coal and Chemical Industry Group to expand partnership in coal

ISLAMABAD, SEPT 22 (DNA) – Minister of Petroleum Dr Musadik Malik, today visited Shaanxi Coal and Chemical Industry Group Co., Ltd., in Shaanxi province, China. This visit underscores the growing cooperation between Pakistan and China in the fields of energy, petrochemicals, and sustainable industrial development.

The Minister was warmly welcomed by Mr. Zhao Futang, General manager of Shaanxi Coal and Chemical Group, along with other senior executives. During the visit, the Minister was provided with a detailed overview of the company’s operations, including their coal mining projects, petrochemical processing plants, and advancements in clean energy technology. Shaanxi Coal and Chemical Industry Group is one of China’s largest state-owned enterprises, with significant investments in coal, chemicals, and new energy sectors.

The Minister’s visit aimed to explore avenues for strengthening bilateral cooperation, particularly in coal. Both parties engaged in productive discussions on potential partnerships in areas such as coal-to-chemicals technology and investments in joint ventures. Representatives of Thar Coal Board, Sindh Engro coal mining company and Energy department Sindh were present at the occasion.
