ISLAMABAD — Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik, after a meeting with the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkiye to Pakistan, H.E. Irfan Neziroglu, said Pakistan is “looking forward to welcoming the Turkish Minister and his team,” who arrive tomorrow for an important official visit. The delegation will be led by Turkiye’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Mr. Alparslan Bayraktar.
The meeting, attended by Secretary Petroleum Momin Agha and Managing Director OGDCL Ahmed Hayat Lak, focused on finalizing preparations for the high-level engagement. Minister Malik emphasized that the upcoming visit would play a “transformational role” in strengthening bilateral cooperation, particularly in the energy and mining sectors.
Both sides reviewed the growing partnership between Pakistan and Turkiye in petroleum, energy, and mineral development. It was noted with satisfaction that Turkish Petroleum has joined Pakistan’s offshore and onshore exploration activities—an important milestone in deepening bilateral energy ties. The Ambassador also revealed that a leading Turkish mineral-sector company will be part of the delegation, underscoring Turkiye’s keen interest in investing in Pakistan’s mining sector.
Minister Malik highlighted that major Pakistani exploration companies—OGDCL, PPL, and Mari Energies—have already partnered with Turkish Petroleum (TPAO), opening new prospects for joint ventures and enhanced cooperation at the global level.
Ambassador Neziroglu reaffirmed Turkiye’s strong commitment to its partnership with Pakistan, noting “many promising areas of cooperation between the two brotherly countries.” He expressed confidence that Minister Alparslan Bayraktar’s visit would “further cement and deepen Pak–Turkiye relations.”
Both sides agreed to work closely to ensure the success of the visit and to translate mutual goodwill into concrete economic and strategic outcomes.
