U.S. Critical Minerals Forum President and Chargé d’Affaires Meet Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb to Deepen Bilateral Collaboration, Enhance Supply-Chain Security, and Promote Sustainable Investment in Pakistan’s Mining Sector
ISLAMABAD, NOV 1 — The President of the U.S. Critical Minerals Forum, Mr. Robert Louis Strayer II, along with U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Ms. Natalie Baker, met today with Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Finance & Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, to discuss expanding cooperation in the minerals and mining sector.
The meeting focused on strengthening Pakistan–U.S. collaboration to ensure supply-chain security for critical minerals, enhance responsible investment, and support sustainable mining practices. Both sides recognized the strategic importance of Pakistan’s rich mineral resources and the potential for partnerships that can foster industrial development, technological innovation, and economic resilience.
Finance Minister Aurangzeb highlighted the government’s ongoing structural reforms, improved fiscal discipline, and Pakistan’s positive macroeconomic outlook. He emphasized that a robust and transparent minerals policy could drive export-led growth, attract foreign investment, and secure long-term economic stability. The Minister reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to aligning mining-sector reforms with international environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards to ensure sustainable development.
Mr. Strayer and Ms. Baker appreciated Pakistan’s reform agenda and reaffirmed the United States’ interest in supporting responsible mineral development, technical cooperation, and investment facilitation. They also discussed avenues for enhancing institutional linkages, capacity building, and technology transfer in the mining and resource management sectors.
Both sides reaffirmed their shared vision for continued engagement and collaboration, aimed at ensuring mutually beneficial outcomes and advancing regional supply-chain resilience. The meeting concluded with a commitment to maintaining close dialogue under the broader framework of Pakistan–U.S. economic partnership and sustainable development cooperation.
