A Pakistani fisherman has been arrested by India’s Border Security Force (BSF) along with his boat near the maritime boundary in the Arabian Sea, according to sources in the Pakistan Fisherfolk Forum.
The arrested fisherman has been identified as Rasool Bakhsh. He hails from village Rajan Tahmoor, located in Chhachh Jhan Khan, Tehsil Shahbandar of Sujawal district, Sindh.
The Pakistan Fisherfolk Forum stated that the incident likely occurred after the fisherman inadvertently crossed the unmarked maritime boundary during a routine fishing expedition — a common occurrence given the lack of clear demarcation in the sea between Pakistan and India.
The Forum further revealed that 35 fishermen from Sujawal and Thatta districts are already imprisoned in Indian jails under similar charges of maritime trespassing.
