ISLAMABAD, NOV 4 /DNA/ – At just 23, Karachi-based runner Amin Mukaty is emerging as one of Pakistan’s brightest long-distance prospects. Clocking an impressive 2:48:47 at the 129th Boston Marathon, he became Pakistan’s fastest male finisher — and now aims to complete the Six World Marathon Majors, putting Pakistan firmly on the global running map.
Once struggling with stage 2 obesity, Mukaty’s journey began in 2016 as a personal fight for fitness that evolved into a lifelong passion for running. During the COVID-19 lockdowns, his dedication intensified, transforming him from a casual jogger into a serious athlete. His breakthrough came at the 2021 Istanbul Marathon, where he became the youngest Pakistani to break the three-hour mark, finishing in 2:59:55.
Since then, Mukaty has completed three of the six majors — Berlin 2023 (2:46:30), Chicago 2024 (2:44:32), and Boston 2025 (2:48:47). Next on his list are London (April 2026), New York (November 2026), and Tokyo (March 2027). If successful, he will become the youngest Pakistani ever to earn the prestigious Six Star Finisher title.
Training up to 80 km a week, Mukaty maintains a disciplined regimen of road runs, structured workouts, and strict nutrition. He credits ACTIVIT and its CEO Rizwan Aftab Ahmed for their unwavering support — from tailored nutrition and performance scans to race sponsorships and recovery assistance. “Their support turned my dream into reality,” Mukaty said.
At Boston 2025, 13 Pakistani runners finished under four hours, with Mukaty leading the contingent. Reflecting on his achievement, he said: “Heartbreak Hill couldn’t break my heart. Boston tested my limits, but I rose to the challenge.”
His message to Pakistan’s youth is simple yet powerful: “Focus on your health. Running changes lives — once you start, you’ll love it.”
