PDM LEADER BANNED TO HOLD PUBLIC MEETING IN DI KHAN

ISLAMABAD, FEB 5 /DNA/ – The Deputy Commissioner Dera Ismail Khan has stopped Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) leader and Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman to hold public gatherings in the city to ensure the implementation of the code of conduct for Local Government elections to be held on February 13.

According to the ECP sources, the district administration conveyed the decision to the JUI-F on its application for permission to hold the public meetings at GPO Chowk to Fawara Chowk on February 7 and CPEC Interchange on February 5.

The letter issued by DC said the the decision was made in pursuance to the directions of Election Commission received from the District Election Commissioner D I Khan that “for the conduct of Local Government elections, there will be no permission for holding public meeting and rallies”.

The permission of such application could not be granted to ensure the implementation of the code of conduct issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in letter and spirit, .

The Deputy Commissioner Dera Ismail Khan has stopped the leader of Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) and Chief of Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam (JUI-F) Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman to hold public gatherings in the city to ensure the implementation of the code of conduct for Local Government elections to be held on February 13.

In pursuance to the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) directions received from the District Election Commissioner for the conduct of LG elections, t had issued instructions to the Deputy Commissioner and District Police Officer D I Khan in response to the letter of District Monitoring Officer D.I.Khan for stopping the public meetings, which were against the code of conduct for KP LG elections.

The Maulana had sought permission from the district administration for holding public meetings at GPO Chowk to Fawara Chowk on February 7 and CPEC Interchange on February 5.

The ECP said the decision was made in pursuance to the directions of Election Commission received from the District Election Commissioner D I Khan that “for the conduct of Local Government Elections, there will be no permission for holding public meeting and rallies”.
