PESHAWAR, JUN 21 (APP/DNA): Deputy Commissioner, Sarmad Saleem Akram, affirmed district administration’s commitment to ensuring peace, order and public facilities during the upcoming holy month of Muharram. He emphasized Muharram as a month of respect and mutual tolerance.
Akram made these remarks while chairing a meeting focused on Muharram arrangements, where detailed discussions were held on maintaining law and order and fostering interfaith harmony.
He stated that special provisions would be made for cleanliness, lighting, water supply, and traffic management. Close coordination with all stakeholders will also be maintained to prevent any untoward incidents.
The Deputy Commissioner urged religious scholars and leaders to propagate messages of peace, love, and brotherhood, stressing that everyone must play their part in upholding sanctity of Muharram. He reiterated that sectarian tension or chaos will not be tolerated.
The meeting was attended by a large number of eminent scholars from different schools of thought, Additional Deputy Commissioner Rao Hashim Azeem and Assistant Commissioner Dawood Saleemi.
