Petrol price in Pakistan may see hike from Sept 16

ISLAMABAD, SEPT 13: Petroleum prices in Pakistan are expected to increase from September 16, as the oil industry has proposed a temporary hike for 15 days.

The proposed adjustments cover petrol, high-speed diesel, kerosene, and light diesel.

According to industry sources, the following price adjustments have been suggested:

  • Petrol: Increase by Rs 1.54 per liter
  • High-Speed Diesel (HSD): Increase by Rs 4.79 per liter
  • Kerosene: Increase by Rs 3.60 per liter
  • Light Diesel: Increase by Rs 3.68 per liter

The proposed changes are part of a 15-day price determination, and the working paper shared by the industry does not account for government taxes or foreign exchange losses.

Approval process

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) will submit a summary of the proposed prices to the government on September 15. Following this, the Prime Minister will give the final approval for the new rates.

Once approved, the Finance Ministry will issue an official notification to implement the revised petroleum prices across the country.
