PHF Announces New National Selection Committee, Appoints Head Coaches for All Tiers

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has officially announced the appointment of a new National Selection Committee (NSC) along with head coaches for Pakistan’s senior, junior, and U-18 teams, according to a notification issued on April 7, 2026.

The notification, approved by PHF President Mohiyuddin Ahmad Wani, states that the appointments have been made following recommendations of the Professional Development Committee (PDC) and in line with agreed terms and conditions.

Former Olympian Samiullah Khan has been named Chairman of Selectors. The selection committee also includes Naeem Akhtar, Kashif Jawad, Muhammad Khalid, Atif Bashir, and Nasir Ali as members.

In parallel, the PHF has appointed key coaching staff for different levels. Manzoor ul Hassan will serve as Head Coach of the Pakistan senior team, while Ayaz Mehmood has been assigned as Head Coach of the junior team. Qamar Ibrahim will take charge of the U-18 squad.

According to the notification, the respective head coaches will also be part of the selection process for their teams, ensuring coordination between coaching and selection functions.

The move is seen as part of broader efforts by the PHF to restructure and strengthen Pakistan hockey at all levels, aiming to revive the country’s performance in international competitions.

The notification was signed by Farrukh Atiq Khan, reflecting immediate implementation of the new appointments.
