PHF announces U-18, senior team trials schedule for key international events

PHF announces squad for Azalan Shah Hockey Cup

ISLAMABAD, May 04: Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has formally announced the schedule for trials of the national Under-18 and senior teams in preparation for upcoming international assignments, including the U-18 Asia Cup and the FIH Pro League.

According to a press release issued by the PHF Media Cell, the decision was taken following detailed consultations among the federation’s Professional Development Committee, National Selection Committee, and head coaches and was approved by the PHF President.


The federation stated that training camps for both squads are currently in full swing. The Pakistan U-18 team is undergoing training at the Nasir Bunda Hockey Stadium in Islamabad, while the senior team’s camp is being held at the National Hockey Stadium in Lahore.


As per the notification, trials for the selection of the final squad for the U-18 Asia Cup will be conducted on May 9 and 10 at the Nasir Bunda Hockey Stadium. Members of the National Selection Committee and the junior team’s head coach will be present to oversee the process.


Meanwhile, the first phase of trials for the senior national team will take place on May 12 and 13 at the National Hockey Stadium, Lahore. The senior team’s head coach and all members of the selection committee will supervise the trials.


A PHF spokesperson said that the senior team selection process will be completed in two phases. During the first phase, around 60 probables currently attending the training camp will be evaluated, and top performers will be shortlisted. The second phase of trials will then be held to finalize the squad for the FIH Pro League. The schedule for the second phase will be announced later.


The PHF President is personally overseeing the training camps and trials to ensure merit-based selection of the most talented players capable of representing Pakistan at the international level with distinction.
