ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has issued a stern warning to India, declaring that Pakistan will go to every possible extent to stop New Delhi from attempting to block Pakistan’s water supply. He accused India of being involved in terrorism inside Pakistan and emphasized that such actions would not be tolerated.
The Prime Minister paid glowing tributes to Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, praising him for leading the armed forces from the front and safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty. He also highlighted Pakistan’s landmark agreement with Saudi Arabia and Turkiye, describing it as a turning point in regional cooperation. Sharif expressed hope that other countries may also join this initiative, strengthening Pakistan’s diplomatic and economic ties.
On the issue of Kashmir, the Prime Minister reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering stance, affirming that the country will continue its political and diplomatic support for the Kashmiri people until they achieve their right to self-determination.
Turning to Afghanistan, Sharif said Pakistan desires peace but warned that Afghan soil being used against Pakistan is unacceptable. He offered sincere advice to the Afghan government to act responsibly as neighbors.
The Prime Minister also underscored Pakistan’s deep friendship with China, noting that Beijing has always stood by Islamabad in difficult times. He extended appreciation to other allies including Saudi Arabia, Turkiye, Qatar, Kuwait, and Azerbaijan, expressing optimism that ties with these nations will grow further.
In a notable remark, Sharif thanked U.S. President Donald Trump for his historic mediation in managing a ceasefire between Pakistan and India, saying Pakistan will always remember this gesture.
This wide-ranging statement reflects Pakistan’s multi-dimensional foreign policy: firm resistance against Indian aggression, solidarity with Kashmiris, calls for responsible behavior from Afghanistan, and strengthening of ties with allies across Asia and the Middle East.
