ISLAMABAD, JAN 14 /DNA/ – Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA), National Art Gallery, Islamabad, proudly hosted a successful calligraphy workshop led by the renowned Pakistani calligrapher Mr. Azeem Iqbal. The workshop, attended by aspiring artists and calligraphy enthusiasts, served as a continuation of Mr. Azeem Iqbal’s prestigious calligraphy exhibition is currently on display at PNCA.
The workshop offered participants a unique opportunity to learn from Mr. Azeem Iqbal’s expertise, exploring the intricate art of calligraphy and its deep-rooted connection to Pakistani heritage and culture. Mr. Iqbal introduced the participants to the Kufic script, one of the oldest and most revered styles of Arabic calligraphy. He also gave a live demonstration of his unique techniques, showcasing the precision and creativity that define his work. Through hands-on sessions, Mr. Iqbal shared his techniques, artistic philosophy, and the rich traditions that inspire his exquisite works. The attendees were not only enriched with new skills but also gained a deeper appreciation for the cultural and artistic significance of calligraphy. The participants thoroughly enjoyed the workshop, expressing gratitude for the rare opportunity to learn directly from a master artist.
Ms. Mariam Ahmed, Director, Visual Arts Division (VAD) at PNCA, remarked, “PNCA really wants to highlight the traditional art of calligraphy, and Mr. Azeem Iqbal is kind enough to conduct this workshop at PNCA. We truly aim to provide students with one-to-one knowledge of this traditional art form from a senior artist.”
