Polio free Pak-Afghan future interlinked: Uzma Kardar

ATTOCK: Chief Minister’s Focal Person on Polio Uzma Kardar has said that Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif will personally supervise the polio campaign.

She expressed these views while discussing the occasion of his visit to review the arrangements in connection with the upcoming polio campaign in District Attock on Monday.

Deputy Commissioner Attock Rao Atif Raza, Assistant Commissioner Hazro Ayesha Badr, CEO Health Dr. Asad Ismail and other relevant officers were also present with him on this occasion.

Chief Minister’s Focal Person on Polio Uzma Kardar visited the polio transit point at Attock Khurd and administered polio drops to children under five years of age there under her supervision.

Later chaired the meeting regarding the polio campaign in DC office Attock. CEO Health Dr. Asad Ismail gave a briefing to the Special Assistant Uzma Kardar.

Chief Minister’s Focal Person on Polio Uzma Kardar has said that Pakistan and Afghanistan are the only two countries in the world where polio cases have been reported, while the entire world has become polio-free. Pakistan and Afghanistan’s future as polio-free countries is interlinked. This year, polio cases have been reported in 13 districts of Pakistan and now it is necessary to conduct a strong polio campaign in the entire country, She added.

She said that the anti-polio campaign is starting from October 28 across the country and special measures are being taken in this regard in Punjab province. The Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif herself will supervise all the activities in connection with the polio campaign. She said that special meetings are being organized to eradicate polio in the province and all arrangements are being reviewed on a daily basis in these meetings.

Uzma Kardar said that more than 300,000 children under the age of five will be administered polio drops in connection with the polio campaign in Attock district. Special teams have been formed in this regard. Full arrangements are being made for the security of the polio teams. All situations will be monitored moment by moment. Control rooms will be established at district and tehsil levels across the province, She added.
