LOWER DIR, Oct 07 (APP/DNA): In compliance with the directives of Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Arif Khan, the Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) Lower Dir branch held a coordination meeting with Assistant Commissioner Lal Qila, Baqar Ali, to discuss community safety and awareness initiatives.
During the meeting, the Assistant Commissioner appreciated the humanitarian services of PRCS and directed the Risk Awareness and Safer Behaviour (RASB) team to conduct awareness sessions in various villages of Tehsil Lal Qila regarding Explosive Remnants of War (ERW).
Following these instructions, PRCS Lower Dir organized an RASB awareness session in the village of Fazalabad Kotkay.
The session was held in the wake of a tragic incident in which a 20-year-old youth lost his life when a mortar shell exploded while he was harvesting maize.
The awareness activity aimed to educate local communities about the dangers of unexploded ordnance (UXO) and to promote safe behaviour and precautionary practices.
A large number of local residents, including men and youth, participated in the session. Community elders appreciated the initiative and emphasized that such awareness programs are vital to preventing similar tragic incidents in the future.
The Pakistan Red Crescent Society reaffirmed its commitment to promoting safety, resilience, and humanitarian awareness among vulnerable and affected communities and vowed to continue its efforts in this regard.
