President Alvi welcomes new Iranian ambassador

ISLAMABAD, JAN 09 (DNA) – The President of Pakistan on Thursday welcomed the arrival of the new Iranian ambassador to Islamabad and expressed his condolences on the occasion of Martyrdom of General Qassim Suleimani and the death of Ukrainian plane passengers in Tehran.

Seyyed Mohammad Ali Hosseini, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Pakistan, today (Thursday), presented his credentials to the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Dr. Arif Alavi.

During the meeting, the Pakistani President welcomed the new Iranian ambassador, referring to the historical, cultural, religious and social commonalities between Iran and Pakistan and the effective role of the two countries in the region and the Islamic world, said Iran and Pakistan are of many opportunities and capabilities. They have a high potential for strengthening and expanding bilateral cooperation.

Referring to recent developments in the region, Alavi said Pakistan is ready to assist in de-escalations because peace and stability are the demands of all countries in the region.

In this meeting also Hussaini conveyed the warm greetings of the president of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Dr. Aref Alavi.

At the end of the visit, the President of Pakistan demanded Ambassador Hosseini to convey his warm greetings President Hassan Rouhani.

Prior to presenting the credentials by the Iranian Ambassador to the President of Pakistan, during an official ceremony, the National Anthems of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan were played by the Pakistan Presidential Guard Music Band and subsequently a military parade was staged in the honor of the new Ambassador of the Republic by the Pakistani Presidential Guard.

Seyyed Mohammad Ali Hosseini, Iran’s new ambassador to Pakistan, came to Islamabad on December 17th with the slogan “First Neighbors” which is one of the golden principles of foreign policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Hosseini, who has had diplomatic activity for nearly three decades in various fields, previously served as the Iranian ambassador to Italy, a spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the deputy head of the ministry’s legal and international affairs department.

He also served as the State Department’s Deputy Director for Asia and Oceania for some time.=DNA
