ISLAMABD, JAN 30 (DNA):Ramallah, Prime Minister’s Office– Prime Minister Dr. Mohammad Mustafa held a coordination meeting on humanitarian relief and reconstruction efforts in Gaza with Sigrid Kaag, Senior Humanitarian and Reconstruction Coordinator for Gaza; Muhannad Hadi, UN Humanitarian Coordinator for the Occupied Palestinian Territory; Alexandre Stutzmann, EU Representative to Palestine; and Stefan Emblad, World Bank Country Director for Palestine. The meeting was also attended by Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Wael Zaqout and Minister of Social Development and Relief Samah Hamad.
Mustafa reiterated the importance of international partners and the International community supporting the Palestinian Government’s efforts and its field teams operating in Gaza. He emphasized the need for joint coordination through the Government Operations Room for Emergency Interventions in the Gaza Strip to enhance ongoing relief efforts, restore basic services, advance economic recovery, and assess damages on the ground in preparation for reconstruction.
The Prime Minister highlighted the progress in implementing the Government’s Relief, Early Recovery, and Emergency Response Plan for Gaza. Concurrently, discussions are underway to convene an international donor conference for reconstruction, in coordination with donors and relevant international institutions. Additionally, plans are being developed for an investment conference to support the private sector’s recovery and restart economic activity, aiming to transition beyond reliance on humanitarian aid and strengthen the steadfastness of the Palestinian people.
