PSL 9 draft: Has Glenn Maxwell signed up for Pakistan Super League?

Pakistani social media is abuzz with rumours about Australian batter Glenn Maxwell’s participation in the Pakistan Super League’s (PSL) ninth edition as the draft for the 2024 season draws near.

The draft for PSL 9 is scheduled to take place on December 14 in Lahore.

Glenn Maxwell is one of the best hard-hitters in the world who recently showcased to the world what he is capable of. The right-handed batter scored 104 runs off 48 balls, cruising the world champions to victory in a must-win match during the third T20I against India on Tuesday (November 28).

While Maxwell signing up for the PSL 9 draft would surely take the league to the whole next level as he is one of the most in-demand players of the shortest format, it must be kept in mind that these are rumours and there has been no confirmation about it as of yet.

David Warner is another Australian player, who according to rumours, may feature in PSL 9.

While all of these are rumours, some of the best foreign players namely England’s Dawid Malan and James Vince, Afghanistan’s Hazratullah Zazai, South Africa’s Rassie van der Dussen and Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan are confirmed for the PSL 9 draft.

Not just that, there have been a lot of rumours of multiple players leaving their franchise with the names of Naseem Shah, Hasan Ali, and Imad Wasim on top of the list among those who may be wearing a new jersey in the new PSL season.

It must be noted that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has already revealed the pick order for the Player Draft of the PSL 9.

Quetta Gladiators will make the first pick, meanwhile Karachi Kings and two-time champions Islamabad United will have the second and third picks. The fourth and fifth picks will be done by Peshawar Zalmi and last season’s runners-up Multan Sultans respectively while winners of the past two editions Lahore Qalandars will finish the first round with the sixth pick.

The PCB had previously opened the registration window for foreign players. The flagship event is tentatively scheduled from 8 February to 24 March, 2024.
