ISLAMABAD, FEB 17 (DNA) – In the wake of recent electoral victories, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is currently engaged in consultations for government formation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
Following the announcement of the chief minister and speaker nominees, the party has shifted its focus to selecting ministers for the upcoming provincial cabinet.
The PTI is poised to introduce new faces into the expected cabinet lineup along with some old faces, with Taimur Jhagra, Shaukat Yousafzai, and Kamran Bangash – despite their electoral losses – slated to be included as advisors.
Taimur Jhagra is expected to oversee the health portfolio, while Shaukat Yousafzai is likely to handle information affairs and Kamran Bangash may be tasked with the sports and culture department.
Moreover, Mushtaq Ghani, the current KP Assembly speaker, is expected to reassume the education ministry, adding to the diverse array of expertise within the cabinet.
Several other names are also under consideration for ministerial roles, including former provincial minister Shakeel Khan, Khaliqur Rehman, Arif Ahmadzai, Fazal Shakur, Zahir Shah Toro, Meena Khan, and Syed Qasim Shah. Additionally, Babar Swati, Akbar Ayub, Faisal Amin Gandapur, and Anwar Zeb are strong contenders for cabinet positions.
The ongoing consultations underscore PTI’s commitment to assembling a competent and inclusive cabinet to address the varied needs of the province. With a mix of experienced politicians and fresh faces, the party aims to deliver on its promises of governance, development, and progress in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Previously, the PTI had nominated former minister Omar Ayub as its candidate for the prime minister’s slot. A party leader had also announced that MPA-elect Aqibullah will be the party candidate for the KP Assembly speakership.=DNA
