ISLAMABAD: Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari Thursday revealed that under CM and in accordance with NDMA and PDMA advisories, the government is vigilantly overseeing river flow situations and ensuring evacuation of humans and animals to relief camps equipped with health facilities and mosquito control, stressing the need for public cooperation.
In a recent interview, Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari highlighted the government’s proactive flood preparedness, underscoring the swift evacuation efforts initiated within two hours of India’s water surge alert.
Additionally, mobile health clinics have been deployed to provide immediate medical assistance and mosquito control measures are being implemented to prevent disease outbreaks, she added.
She commended the rapid response, which successfully relocated individuals and animals to safety, mitigating potential harm.
Minister Bukhari urged the public to exercise caution during this critical period. She advised against taking selfies near riverbanks, swimming in floodwaters, or engaging in recreational activities in these hazardous conditions.
She stressed that this is a time for serious cooperation, not leisure and called on citizens to adhere to safety guidelines to prevent accidents.
She further appealed to parents to keep their children away from rivers and streams, emphasizing that the situation remains critical.
Minister Bukhari reassured the public that the government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz is fully mobilized and committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents during this challenging
time.
Looking ahead, Minister Bukhari assured that once water levels decrease, rehabilitation efforts will commence promptly, adding, these efforts will focus on restoring infrastructure, providing support to affected communities and ensuring the well-being of all residents.
When asked about Punjab’s response to crises, she affirmed that the government is confidently managing all emergencies and remains fully prepared for any scenario.
She emphasized ongoing, vigilant monitoring and decisive action, stating that entire communities are being relocated strategically and safely.
She mentioned that the extraordinary rainfall situation was handled with meticulous planning, implementing Plans A, B, and C to manage the crisis effectively, adding, the Chief Minister is actively engaged, personally visiting flood-affected areas, ensuring that no one is resting until the situation improves.APP
