Rawalpindi: Shah Mehmood Qureshi, the leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), had an informal interaction with the media in Adiala Jail, where he and PTI chief Imran Khan are being held on charges of treason and espionage.

Qureshi said the cipher case, which accuses them of leaking sensitive information to foreign agencies, is a global case and the world media should be allowed to attend the hearing.

He requested that the trial of the cipher case be shown live, so that everyone can know who is loyal and who is disloyal to the country.

Qureshi also said that Imran Khan is only demanding transparent elections, and that the election commission has snatched the PTI’s iconic symbol of bat from them, which has damaged the credibility of the election. He said that Imran Khan will fight till the last ball, and that he would not have become a turncoat even if he had been offered incentives.

He said that they will not accept arranged and engineered elections, and that the party elections held in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House were not recognized by the election commission. He said that they are in prison cells yet their opponents are afraid of them.

Qureshi said that he was visited by several PTI leaders in jail, and that he was asked to leave Imran Khan and PTI by some elements. He said that raising the PTI flag is not a crime, and that those who want to see Imran Khan out of jail should vote for PTI nominees.

He said that he was not allowed to meet Imran Khan in jail, and that they are both in solitary confinement.

He said that his brother-in-law died three days ago but he was not allowed to attend the funeral.

He said that the doors of negotiations are never closed in politics, but that there is no refusal to negotiate for the upholding of the constitution and conducting transparent elections.

He said that they have realized that they will not be allotted the bat symbol, but that they respect the court decisions. However, he said that history will not spare those who have wronged them.
