Schools to begin summer holidays early from April 30!

ISLAMABAD, APR 5: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced on Thursday that schools would start their summer holidays earlier than originally planned in response to the rising temperatures across West Bengal.

Speaking to reporters at the state secretariat in Nabanna, Banerjee confirmed that the Education Department would soon issue an official notice declaring that primary, intermediate, and higher secondary schools would commence their summer break on April 30, 2025.

The announcement marked a significant change from the usual schedule, with summer vacations typically beginning in the second week of May.

According to the academic calendar for this year, the summer break had been set to start on May 9. However, due to the ongoing heatwave conditions affecting several regions, the decision was made to bring forward the holidays as a precaution.

Banerjee stated that students would enjoy a break of approximately 12 to 13 days before the formal commencement of the vacation, including Sundays and other public holidays. She added that the Education Department would soon release detailed instructions on how schools should adjust their schedules to accommodate the new holiday plan.
