ISLAMABAD: Security forces have killed seven India-backed terrorists in separate operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Balochistan, security sources said on Tuesday.
Security forces killed two terrorists during an operation in the Nokcha area of Balochistan’s Chagai district, after the militants set an empty water bowser on fire, security sources said.
According to security sources, the terrorists attempted to flee after setting the vacant water bowser ablaze, prompting the security forces’ operation.
The sources said that the militants were also involved in arson attacks at various locations along the N-40 highway.
They added that 11 terrorists belonging to Fitna al-Hindustan, who were involved in similar acts of sabotage, had been killed on August 31.
Operations will continue until the last terrorist is eliminated from Balochistan, security sources said.
Separately, security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in Bara town of KP, killing five terrorists belonging to Fitna al-Khawarij, according to security sources.
A large cache of weapons and ammunition was recovered from the terrorists, the security sources said, adding that the operation resulted in the complete destruction of militant hideouts.
Security forces remain committed to completely eliminating the scourge of terrorism from the country and establishing lasting peace, the sources said.
Pakistan has witnessed a sharp rise in cross-border terrorist incidents, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, since the Afghan Taliban returned to power in 2021.
Islamabad has repeatedly urged Kabul to prevent its territory from being used by militant organisations to carry out attacks inside Pakistan.
Pakistan maintains that the Afghan Taliban authorities have failed to take effective action against groups responsible for attacks on Pakistani security forces and civilians.
