ISLAMABAD: The incumbent President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has been re-elected as the President of the Central Asian Republic, which is constantly on the move in various fields especially in the fields of trade, economy, reforms ever since President Shavkat has taken charge as the President. Shavkat Mirziyoyev got 81 per cent vote.

According to the election commission, over 16 million voters cast their votes out of total 19 million eligible voters. The turnout was over 81 per cent, which is quite high. This time a large number of youths took part in this process and exercised its right.

The presidential elections in Uzbekistan were held in accordance with national legislation and the country’s international obligations. This was stated by the Deputy Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Yerik Ashimov.

Erik Ashimov headed the mission of observers from the organization at the presidential elections in Uzbekistan. He noted that the observers did not reveal any violations that cast doubt on the results of the voting.

Meanwhile, CIS observer  chief said that the presidential elections were held in accordance with the constitution and the electoral code of the Republic of Uzbekistan and met the principles of democratic elections. This was stated by the head of the CIS observer mission, Sergei Lebedev.

He noted that the presidential elections were well organized. All candidates were equally given the opportunity to present their programs and meet with voters, he added.

Observers from the CIS came to the conclusion that the voting was held in accordance with the constitution and the electoral code of the Republic of Uzbekistan and met the principles of democratic elections.

However, observers noted some technical comments. In particular, in some polling stations they were unable to obtain information on the number of voters. Lebedev said that in such cases, observers expressed their comments.
