ISLAMABAD, MAR 3: Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz President and seven other parties backed candidate Shehbaz Sharif is all set to win the elections of the Prime Minister against the PTI-nominated Omar Ayub Khan, which are scheduled to be held in the National Assembly today (Sunday) at 11am.

IPP leader Aun Chaudhry reaches Parliament House

IPP leader Aun Chaudhry reached the Parliament House. Amid tight security arrangements inside and outside the Parliament for the National Assembly session as hundreds of Police, Rangers and FC personnel have been deployed.

Vehicles coming to Parliament House allowed to enter after checking and most importantly ordinary visitors are not allowed in the session of the National Assembly.

Nomination papers accepted

Both Shehbaz Sharif and the Omar Ayub Khan submitted their nomination papers to the National Assembly Secretariat, which were declared valid by newly-elected Speaker Ayaz Sadiq after the scrutiny process. Overall, eight nomination papers had been submitted by Shehbaz Sharif whereas four papers were submitted by Omar Ayub endorsed with the signatures of different proposers and seconders.

Omar Ayub raises objection

Omar Ayub had raised an objection against Shehbaz Sharif alleged PML-N leader was gifted his NA seat through manipulation in Form-47 and Shehbaz could not contest the PM election because he had ‘lost’ the constituency as per Form-45.

Khan also claimed that PMLN President ‘wrongly’ administered the oath as MNA and thus cannot be a candidate for the prime minister’s position, The objection was rejected.

Which party supports which candidate in NA of Pakistan?

PML-N Mr Sharif has the support of the PPP, MQM-P, PML-Q, BAP, PML-Z, IPP, and the NP having a total of 205 members while two MNAs-elect from the MQM-P and PPP have yet to take oath.

In order to become the leader of the house, Mr Sharif requires 169 votes in the 336-member house.

PTI-backed opposition has 102 lawmakers, out of which one member has not taken the oath.

Meanwhile, the JUI-F and BNP-Mengal are yet to announce their strategy for the PM polls.

New era of progress to begin: Marriyum Aurangzeb

PMLN Information Secretary Maryam Aurangzeb said that journey of development that stopped in 2018 will start again with the return of era of youth employment, business and development.

“Shahbaz Sharif saved Pakistan from default and now he will stabilize the economy,” she said.

She alleged that after four years of ‘brutality’ — Imran Khan’s government — all sectors of the country were destroyed, the process of restoration and reconstruction will begin.

PTI has to accept Feb 8 Elections results: Ahsan Iqbal

PML-N leader Ahsan Iqbal talking to SAMAA TV said that there is no doubt about Shahbaz Sharif becoming the Prime Minister as he will all set to get majority votes from lawmakers like speaker and deputy speaker elections.

“PTI will make noise in the House in the same way today but PTI has to accept the results of February 8 elections,” Ahsan Iqbal said.

He said PTI should play a positive role in the House to solve problems instead of chaos and chaos.
