Sports officials vow to step down as PSB issues notice

ISLAMABAD, JUL 16: Several officials from national sports federations have pledged to resign following a notice issued by the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB), which enforces term limits for office-bearers in line with the national sports policy.

Sources divulged that the president and treasurer of the Baseball Federation have assured the PSB of their intention to step down. The chairman of the Taekwondo Federation, along with the president and secretary of the Judo Federation, are also prepared to vacate their positions. Additionally, the general secretaries of the Sailing and Karate Federations are expected to resign.

According to the national sports policy, no individual may hold office for more than two terms. All officials have been instructed to comply with the policy within thirty days.

Speaking to Samaa TV, PSB director Nasrullah Rana said that the officials who received notices had reached out to the board. He added that all sports federations are expected to convene meetings in the coming days to finalise decisions regarding compliance.
