SYMPOSIUM ON AGRICULTURAL TECHNICAL COOPERATION BETWEEN PAKISTAN AND KOREA

ISLAMABAD, AUG 4 /DNA/ – The Prime Minister Office and the Embassy of the Republic of Korea jointly inaugurated the Symposium on “Agricultural Technical Cooperation between Pakistan and Korea” on August 3, 2021 at Serena Hotel, Islamabad. This symposium is co-organized  by the Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) and Rural Development Administration (RDA) of the Republic of Korea. The symposium was attended by the SAPM on Food Security, Minister for National Food Security and Research, the RDA delegation from Korea and dignitaries from KOPIA, PARC and NARC.The symposium explored the ongoing and future cooperation between Pakistan and Korea including the potato seed multiplication, and production and R&D of Chilli and Fodder Crops.  RDA and PARC agreed to strengthen agricultural technical cooperation through the KOPIA-Pakistan Center.

On the occasion, Mr. HurTaewoong shared that KOPIA-Pakistan Center and the PARC will jointly develop locally-customized technologies to contribute to increasing farmer’s income and developing Pakistan’s agro-industry. He mentioned that the two governments are opening a new chapter in agricultural technology cooperation.

Minister for National Food Security and Research Syed Fakhar Imam appreciated the Korean RDA projects and reiterated the support of the incumbent government for sustainable  Agricultural development. He apprised the delegation on the Pakistan’s agricultural industry and provided a positive outlook for future collaborations.

The Ambassador of the Republic of Korea,H.E. Mr. Suh Sangpyo commented that Pakistan has unlimited potential with its young population and vast farmland. Pakistan’s agriculture is expected go beyond domestic food self-sufficiency and contribute to the global food problem. He hoped that the symposium would lay a cornerstone in strengthening bilateral relations.
