SARGODHGA, FEB 8: The third Chief of Army Staff Inter-Divisional Hockey Championship will be started from February 9 at the Strutturf Hockey Ground, Mela Mandi Road, Sargodha which was going to organize in collaboration with the Pakistan Hockey Federation and the Punjab Hockey Association whereas this national event has been entrusted to Sargodha to host. Teams from 9 divisions from across the country are participating in the championship. Each team will consist of 18 players and 3 officials. Technical officials, Olympians, former international players and other distinguished guests will also participate during the event.
Commissioner Sargodha Division Hafiz Shaukat Ali while talking to Associated press of Pakistan said that it is an honor for Sargodha to host a national hockey event of this level. He clarified that the district administration is taking vigorous steps for the promotion of sports and positive engagement of the youth and no shortcoming will be left in organizing the championship.
Deputy Commissioner Sargodha Hussain Ahmed Raza Chaudhry said that all arrangements for security, accommodation and other facilities for teams, officials and fans have been completed and coordinated administrative supervision will be ensured during the competitions.
Pakistan Hockey Federation President Tariq Hussain Bugti and General Secretary Rana Mujahid Olympian appreciated the cooperation of the district administration and said that this championship will play an important role in the promotion of the national game and bringing out new talent. The championship will continue till February 14. Hockey fans have been appealed to reach the stadium in large numbers to watch the competitions and encourage the national game.
