LAHORE, NOV 16: Following the recent increase in diesel prices, transporters have raised fares, adding to the financial burden on passengers.
Bus operators at the Lahore bus stand have issued revised fare lists, implementing increases ranging from 40 to 70 rupees on major routes.
From fare from Lahore to Bahawalpur has been increased by Rs50, while passengers traveling from Lahore to Multan will now pay Rs40 more. The highest increase has been recorded on the Lahore to Dera Ghazi Khan route, where fares have gone up by Rs70.
Transporters say the sharp rise in diesel prices has left them with no choice but to adjust fares. Meanwhile, passengers have urged the government to take steps to stabilize fuel prices or regulate fare hikes to ease the public’s difficulties.
Earlier, the federal government announced the prices of the petroleum products for the next fortnight starting from November 16 (Sunday).
According to details, the price of petrol has remained stable at Rs265.45 per litre. However, the government has decided to increase the price of high-speed diesel by Rs6 per litre.
