Travel advisory issued for tourists in Murree amid severe weather

RAWALPINDI, Apr 03: The district administration in Murree has issued an important advisory for citizens, tourists and commuters in view of the prevailing harsh weather conditions.

According to the officials on Friday, strong winds, thunder and intermittent rainfall are continuing in Murree and its surrounding areas, increasing the risk of accidents. Authorities have urged the public to avoid unnecessary travel to Murree and adjoining regions and to limit movement as much as possible.
The advisory warns that persistent rain may trigger landslides, falling rocks and slippery roads, posing serious hazards for travelers. Drivers have been directed to maintain low speeds and ensure the use of fog lights to prevent mishaps caused by reduced visibility.
Citizens have also been cautioned against standing near weak structures, signboards, trees and electric poles during the adverse weather. The administration further emphasized the need to stay away from streams, hilly slopes and low-lying areas, as sudden surges in water flow could lead to dangerous situations.
In case of any emergency, the public has been advised to immediately contact Rescue 1122 or the district administration helpline at 051-9269018.
Officials stated that all relevant departments are on high alert and continuously monitoring the situation. The administration reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety of life and property, adding that all necessary measures are being taken to effectively respond to any emergency.
