Tremors felt in Islamabad, parts of KP

ISLAMABAD, OCT 17: Several parts of the country were hit by tremors on Friday. According to details, tremors were felt in Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Peshawar, Swat, Chitral and surrounding areas. In Malakand and Swat, strong tremors caused people to leave their homes.

The intensity of the tremors was recorded at 5.6 on the Richter scale. The earthquake’s depth was 120 kilometres underground, with the epicentre located in the Hindu Kush mountain range in Afghanistan. The tremors spread fear and panic. So far, no loss of life or damage to property has been reported.

Earthquake tremors were also felt in various parts of Ghizer, Gilgit-Baltistan, Mansehra, Battagram and nearby areas.

The Meteorological Department will issue further details regarding the intensity and epicentre shortly.
