ISLAMABAD, APR 18: /DNA/ – The National Institute of Special Education, under the Directorate General of Special Education, concluded a landmark training program titled “Orientation and Mobility Techniques for Visually Impaired Persons” today in Islamabad. The training, held from April 7 to April 18, 2025, empowered 37 visually impaired individuals from across the country with key skills for independent living.
Coordinated by the National Mobility & Independence Training Centre, the program drew participants from Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu & Kashmir.
At the closing ceremony, Ms. Farah Naz Akbar, Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Federal Education & Professional Training, commended the initiative and reiterated the government’s commitment to inclusive development. “We must ensure accessibility and empowerment at all levels,” she emphasized.
Director General (SE), Capt. (R) Asif Iqbal Asif, addressed the audience on ongoing efforts to revamp special education under the guidance of the Ministry’s leadership. Trainee testimonials showcased the program’s practical value and motivational impact.
Special guests from the Overseas Pakistani community, Dr. Ashfaq Ahmad and Sir Shamshad Ahmad Khan, hailed the program as a significant step towards dignity and independence for PWDs. They called for continued international cooperation in special education advancement.
The ceremony concluded with certificate distribution, marking the successful end of a transformative learning experience.=DNA
