LONDON, NOV 2: Britain stands in solidarity with Saudi Arabia amid continued attacks by the Iran-backed Houthi militia and is committed to supporting its allies through action rather than words alone, British Middle East Minister Stephen Doughty told Al Arabiya English.
Doughty condemned Houthi attacks against Saudi Arabia and Yemen as unacceptable, calling for an immediate end to the militia’s aggression.
He stressed that attacks targeting Saudi infrastructure and airports must stop, adding that London was working to rally international support for its allies in the face of regional security threats.

His remarks come amid escalating regional tensions, as the Houthis continue to launch missile and drone attacks against Saudi Arabia, while fighting intensifies between the Iran-backed militia and Yemen’s internationally recognized government forces.
Doughty said Britain was also pursuing diplomatic efforts involving Iran and its regional proxies in an attempt to ease tensions and prevent further escalation.
He emphasized the need for de-escalation in Yemen and increased humanitarian assistance to address the country’s worsening humanitarian situation.
The conflict in Yemen has intensified in recent months, with renewed fighting between government forces and the Houthis raising concerns about regional stability and the security of international shipping routes.
Turning to bilateral relations, Doughty highlighted the longstanding partnership between Britain and Saudi Arabia, saying their nearly century-old relationship continued to create opportunities for cooperation across several sectors.
He identified defense, education, artificial intelligence and healthcare as key areas in which the two countries could further strengthen their ties.
