ISLAMABAD, NOV 6 /DNA/ – UK Security Minister Dan Jarvis has undertaken his first official visit to Pakistan, aimed at strengthening practical cooperation on shared security and migration priorities between the two nations.

During the visit, the Minister met with senior political, military, and law-enforcement officials to discuss regional stability, counter-terrorism efforts, and illegal migration. The UK and Pakistan are working to enhance cooperation against terrorism, serious organized crime, illegal migration, and visa fraud, with the goal of disrupting threats before they reach the UK and protecting communities in both countries.

In high-level talks, Jarvis held discussions with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, as well as Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi. The conversations focused on regional security—including stability in Afghanistan—and joint efforts to combat counter-terrorism and serious organized crime. The meetings also addressed stronger operational cooperation, improved information sharing, and building the capabilities needed to tackle criminal and terrorist networks.

Speaking about the visit, Security Minister Dan Jarvis said: “The UK and Pakistan face shared threats, and we are stronger when we confront them together. My visit has focused on deepening the partnership that helps keep British people safe.”
He further emphasized the transnational nature of these challenges, stating: “Terrorism, serious organized crime, illegal migration and visa fraud do not stop at borders. Tackling them demands practical cooperation with trusted partners – cooperation that protects communities in both our countries.”

“This visit is about turning a strong relationship into real results: disrupting criminal networks, improving how we share vital information and building the capabilities that protect the UK,” Jarvis added.
The visit underscores the UK’s commitment to working closely with Pakistan to address mutual security concerns and enhance the safety of citizens in both nations.
