Various markets, trade bodies announce support for PIAF in LCCI polls

LAHORE, MAY 19 /DNA/ – The delegation of various traders and industrial associations, especially the paper market and Shah Alam Market, Young Traders Association, Beden Road and other markets visited the PIAF office to show their solidarity with the PIAF in the upcoming Lahore Chambers elections. The delegation from Paper Market Ganpat Road was led by APMA former chairman Khamis Saeed Butt while the delegation from Young Traders Association of Shah Alam Market was led by Shehzad Aslam and the delegation from Baden Road was led by Tahir Hafeez.

In the meeting the PIAF leadership said that the All Pakistan Paper Merchants Association has always played an important role in the elections of the Lahore Chamber. In the biggest election of the business community of Lahore, PIAF will succeed once again with the support of businessmen and industrialists.

The leadership of PIAF is always active in solving the problems of the business community on all forums and will not spare any effort in the future. For the past years, PIAF Founders Alliance has not lost a single seat. Piaf Founders Alliance this time will win all the seats, but despite this, hard work is necessary for elections.

Patron-in-Chief PIAF Mian Anjum Nisar and Chairman PIAF Fahimur Rahman Saigol while talking to a delegations led by former Senior Vice Chairman PIAF Khamis Saeed Butt and Executive Committee Member PIAF Bau Muhammad Bashir pointed out this. On the occasion of the visit to the central office of the PIAF hundreds of businessmen and industrialists from Urdu Bazar, Ganpat Road, Abakari Road, Anarkali and adjacent markets participated in the delegation. Ahad Amin Malik will enter the field as a PIAF candidate in the Lahore Chamber elections. All members expressed their support for him in the meeting.

Senior Vice Chairman PIAF Nasrullah Mughal, Vice Chairman PIAF Tahir Manzoor Chaudhary, Former Chairman PIAF Muhammad Ali Mian, Senior Vice President Zafar Chaudhry, Vice President Adnan Khalid Butt and others were present in the APMMA delegation. Sheikh Saadat Hussain, Fazal Karim Chaudhary, Sharaft Hussain, Humayun Babar, Waqas Malik, Mugheez Bajwa, Qayyum Raza, Arsalan Abid and many other businessmen were also present.

Meanwhile Chairman of PIAF, Pattern Chief PIAF, Senior Vice Chairman, Vice Chairman other senior members met executive committee member PIAF Nabil Tariq Mehmood and his group in their office and once again congratulated Pakistan Goods Transporters for winning the election unopposed. On this occasion, Senior Vice President Goods Transporters Association Malik Irfan, Vice President Mumtaz Zaman, Mirza Arshad Baig, Ahmad Khan, General Secretary Zahid Basir and other officials also participated. Coordination duties were performed by Executive Committee Member PIAF Malik Muhammad Khalid.

The PIAF Chief observed that besides increasing exports and controlling imports the government will have to take administrative measures, as a large demand of cash dollars are seen in the market. He argued that this devaluation of the currency was dictated by the IMF through prior actions and it has nothing to do with macro-economic fundamentals. He said that there was a complete breakdown of economic policymaking, as the country’s fiscal policy had become subservient to monetary and exchange rate policies. He said that the monetary tightening and exchange rate depreciation resulted in higher inflation, public debt and debt servicing. The government needs to devise a strategy on war-footing to increase foreign investment in Pakistan so as to stop the upward trajectory of the dollar, he added.
