ISLAMABAD, Dec 6 (APP/DNA): A Wafaqi Mohtasib team comprising Director General, Wafaqi Mohtasib Office, Muhammad Ashfaq Ahmad and Consultant Khalid Sial held a Khuli Katchery in Mirpur, Azad Kashmir, under the directions of the Wafaqi Mohtasib, Ejaz Ahmad Qureshi, to redress public complaints on spot.
During the proceedings, it directed that a complainant may be given financial support out of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) besides instructing the SHO of a nearby police station to hand over the impounded motorcycle, mobile phone and Rs.9,000/- cash to the complainant from whom it was taken illegally. The SHO concerned assured to hand over the complainant’s motorcycle and other valuables without delay, said a press release on Saturday.
The Khuli Katchery was attended by civil society members, media representatives besides a large number of complainants who agitated complaints. The Wafaqi Mohtasib Officers issued on the spot instructions to the representatives of the federal agencies present there.
Later, the Wafaqi Mohtasib Officers also delivered an awareness lecture regarding the role and functions of the Wafaqi Mohtasib Institution. The public was informed that any citizen could lodge his or her complaint on a plain piece of paper, giving his name and CNIC number. While, complaints could also be lodged online and through the mobile app.
The Director General, Wafaqi Mohtasib Office, speaking on the occasion, urged the heads of institutions posted in the Mirpur Division to accord the highest priority to merit and to uphold the relevant rules and regulations while discharging their official functions.
“Maladministration, bribery and recommendation-culture should have no place in government organizations”, he added.
The Officers are being paid from the public exchequer and they are supposed to serve the same public, he stated categorically.
The general public attending the Khuli Katchery in Mirpur Division made a large number of complaints demanded their prompt redressal. The heads of the institutions and their representatives assured the Wafaqi Mohtasib Team of their whole hearted cooperation in quick resolution of public complaints.
