WB Mission commends BISP success in achieving CRISP targets

ISLAMABAD, Jul 12 (DNA):The World Bank (WB)/Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) Implementation Support Mission for the Crisis Resilient Social Protection (CRISP) project highlighted the successful achievement of all targets related to the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP).

The mission, visited the BISP office on Friday, was led by Senior Social Protection Specialist Amjad Zafar Khan.
The mission included key participants such as Melis U. Guven (Lead Economist/Co-Task Team Leader) and Zaineb Majoka (Economist), among others.
During the wrap-up meeting with Chairperson Benazir Income Support Programme, Senator Rubina Khalid and Secretary BISP Amer Ali Ahmad, the mission presented its findings for the period Jan-June 2024.
Amjad Zafar Khan highlighted the successful achievement of all targets related to various initiatives including innovations to the Social Registry, Biometric Payment Systems, Hybrid Social Protection Schemes, Health and Nutrition Improvements, and School Enrollment Incentives.
He remarked that all targets were met satisfactorily and are on track.
Chairperson Rubina Khalid expressed gratitude to the World Bank mission for their support and assessment of BISP’s performance.
She stressed the importance of creating awareness about new initiatives among beneficiaries and extending outreach at the Union Council level for better communication and mobilization.
Melis U. Guven also praised BISP’s Hybrid Social Protection Scheme, noting that Benazir Income Support Programme has emerged as a role model for other developing countries implementing social protection programs.
